FPGA State of the Union
This week I chat with EE Journal Editor-in-Chief and resident FPGA expert Kevin Morris in a special FPGA State of the Union Fish Fry. Kevin talks with me about where he sees FPGAs headed in 2012, what to expect from market leaders Xilinx and Altera, how Lattice Semicondutor's acquisition of SiliconBlue will affect the landscape, and where smaller start-ups Tabula and Achronix fit into that mix.
I am also offering up a 25 dollar amazon.com gift certificate, but you’ll have to tune in to find out how to win.

In this week's Fish Fry, I chat with EE Journal Editor-in-Chief Kevin Morris about the upcoming year in FPGAs. Where do you think FPGAs are headed next year?Posted on December 17, 2011 at 8:31 AM
Pinball? Basketball ? Pure nerdiness and geekery at work?So there's nothing else better than these:
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-9719-Robotics-Invention/dp/B000RWOVEW/re...
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-MindStorms-9731-Vision-Command/dp/B003TW...
With a couple of "robotic hands" , some motion detection trickery around some sensitive areas (in order to detect the ball approaching predetermined targets and so on) , an automatic pinball player would be a true pearl in a sheer geeky madness attack.
Basket could benefit from these goodness as well.
A wheeled robot equipped with an arm , acting as a ball launcher , a color matching vision sistem to detect the ball and the canister :

would be a nice contraption in wise geek's hands too.
Who said that Lego bricks are only toys?

I would have to agree with cacolillou that the Mindstorms Robotics Invention kit is VERY cool, but from what I have gleaned from previous Fish Fry's I would add to it the following items:http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-MindStorms-9754-Dark-Developer/dp/B000VH...
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Mindstorms-Star-Droid-Developer/dp/B000U...
and mentioned on a previous Fish Fry:
http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Carbonite-R2-D2-Silicon/dp/B005LX0N...
along with the tastier:
